...already given this to us”. Elder price knew by faith, God has already given them the Victory.
An offer of $70,000.00 was made with a down payment of $20,000.00 and it was accepted. Victory Church only had $4,900.00 in its savings
account at Chicago City Bank.
The church turned to the bank and requested their assistance in acquiring the $15,000.00 needed for the remaining down payment for the purchase of the church but the bank refused to support the church. At this point only God could have known how Eld. Price felt at that moment, with the keys in his hand. But his faith was unshaken, he knew God had Given them the Victory. The Saints of Victory rallied and the building fund efforts began. The first building fund offering was $647.00, of which, $500.00 was from Bro. and Sis. Jerry Jones upon the death of first infant son. They wanted him to be part of this great work.
12 members took out personal loans of $500.00 with Christ Temple Credit Union and gave it to the building fund and the Victory Centers gave its
profound financial support.
It took only 62 days to raise the balance of the monies needed for the down payment of the newchurch. God then gave Victory great favor
with the leaders of the Presbyterian Church.
They gave an additional $2,000.00 off the top of the mortgage. It was given in installment payments of $250.00 a month. With that and the rent from the old church of $150.00 our monthly payments were a miracle 49 cents for the first 8 months of the new Victory Church. God blessed us to continue the superb relationship with our Presbyterian landlords that even years later they gave us another $2,000.00 in a prepaid settlement when the mortgage was paid off earlier than planned.
God continued to smile on Victory and added to the church until September of 1990, when larger facilities were once again needed. God
began to perform another miracle on Victory’s behalf. We were able to expand the office space, dining area, auditorium and added the Dovetta Annex at the cost of $518,000.00.
The construction company started remodeling without one penny down and by December of 1990 our Open House Celebration was held. There were no payments of any Moines for the new building construction until April of 1991, well after the completion of the project. That mortgage has completely been paid and burned in July of 2000, and today, the Victory Apostolic Faith Church is debt free. Praise God!
God has brought Bishop Price and the Victory Church from the very humble beginnings of $400.00 to an appraised value of over $1 million, 800
thousand dollars. The Lord has allowed this church to accomplish many endeavors, which included Victory #2 in Starksville Mississippi, through the efforts of Evang. Mamie King. There have been many other
Ministers of the Victory Church who have gone out into the vineyards, they have become fruitful Pastors and Bishops. Victory’s membership at present is such, that a larger edifice will soon be needed again to service the people of God.
The Victory Church will forever be thankful to God, Bishop Dr. D. Rayford Bell and the Illinois State Council for their wholehearted continual
support of our Pastor, Dr. Bishop Reese Price and Victory Apostolic Faith Church for over 40 years.
