Bishop/Doctor Reese Price Jr, the 7th son and 12th child of Reese and Hannah Price.  Born in Haynes, Arkansas on June 30th, 1931.  At an early age he became very interested in the God of the Universe. Each time he tried God, he became more and more excited about him. At the age of 6 he learned how to pull cotton out of the bolls, picking in one day 116 (whopping) pounds.  With the money he made he bought his own clothes for the winter.

He progressed very well in grade school and before finishing grade school he received many certificates from the 4-H Club.  He completed a 3-year extension course in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas.  While Reese, Jr., was still in his teens, a day of unspeakable sadness visited him through the death of his mother.  It seemed as if the whole world had fallen on him.  Yet, on that day her prayer had been answered her baby boy Reese Jr., was now able to take care of himself and no one could take from him what she had put in him. Independence, Confidence in himself, Self-esteem and Faith in God Almighty!

Destiny for Reese Jr., has begun Chapter 2, He now resides with his big brother in the Windy city of Chicago and was enrolled in the prestigious Linbloom Technical High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart (Dovetta Marie Sloan), born to them were 12 children and a host of grand and great grandchildren.

Bishop Reese Price Jr., was lead to the Lord in the fullness, through the parents of his wife, the Late William and Dovetta Sloan. He was baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost at the tender age of 18 years old. Eight years later he was called into the Ministry.

In 1958 he became a member of the Christ Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop D. Rayford Bell.  There he continued to serve faithfully in many capacities until God called him to be a Pastor.  After talking with his pastor, Bishop Bell gave him God’s Blessings by the laying on of hands and prayer.  He was given permission by the Illinois State council of the PCAF in May 1961 to open a church.  A car repair shop was purchased at 6317 S. Carpenter, by Reese and Dovetta and converted it into a soul repair shop. On July 10th, 1961 the Victory Apostolic Faith Church was founded.

Bishop Reese Price Jr., started his ministry with 7 children, his wife and God.  A family man with a vision. He always took out family time. Summer vacations, ice cream cones after church, rides to the airport to see the planes take off and return, races at the park was common family time. It was a daily routine for him to come home and play a classical piece for his children called
“Fur Elise”  or he would play the childrens favorite,
“Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! what he’s done for me”.

Oct. 25th, 1950 he received form the State of Illinois Dept. of Registration and Education his certificate to practice as an Apprentice Pharmacist. He worked tireless as a truck driver for 17 years to support his family until God lead him to retire, to dedicate himself as a full time minister of the Gospel.  More often then not his home and meals were shared with the homeless and less fortunate for many, many years.

The faith and endurance that was put into him as a child has made him a superstar motivator and a man of great enthusiasm.  He taught music and plays a variety of musical instruments.  He portrays and teaches positive thinking through his infringed faith in God.  Bishop Price has received many honors for his contributions to community projects and his sincere efforts to better the lives of people.  He provides free counseling services to the public, a food pantry for the needy, College Scholarships, computer classes, Free clothing to the foreign field and etc.

Within his 40 plus years in the service of the Lord, Bishop Reese Price Jr., have experience many high points and extremely low points in his ministry.  Including the death of his son (Ricky) Ricardo, the untimely death of his late wife, Mother Dovetta Price, the recent deaths of two brothers, Jethro and Allen, along with many other painful experiences, Bishop Price still have been able to keep his smile that only God can give.  Nevertheless his spiritual growth continued to climb.

Aug. 1987 Bishop Price became an ordained Bishop of the PCAF and on Sept. 22nd, 1980 received his Bachelors degree of Religion Education from the International Bible Institute of Seminary.  In 2000, Bishop received his Doctrine from Midwest Apostolic Bible College. To date, Bishop Price holds the title as Vice President of Midwest Apostolic Bible College where he teaches “Bible History” and he continues to further his growth spiritually and naturally.

God has blessed him to find love again and marry the former Ruth Shaw, who now walks by his side.
