Elder Johnny R. C. Tyler is a National Leader in advocating the stability of traditional family values and has appeared on, WCFC Television
programs “Among Friends,” and “Another Perspective,” nationally published magazines such as Chicago Gospel Style Magazine, Headway Magazine, “The Citizen” by Focus On The Family, as well as other television, radio,
and print media.
He and his wife Myra are the natural Parents of four children (2 boys and 2 girls) whose ages range from 21 to 27, and are the adoptive parents of six other (3 boys and 3 girls) whose ages range from 11 to 16.
Elder Tyler graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors Degree in Human Development from North Park University and Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois where he
also was a member of the Omicron Psi Honor Society.
In spring 1996 he rejected a “Presidential Scholars” full Academic Scholarship for Chicago State University, choosing instead to teach abstinence-education full-time. Elder Tyler also graduated with Honors from Kennedy-King College in Chicago where he majored in Social Service Family Welfare. Maintaining an Honors status throughout his tenure he was named an All-American Collegiate Scholar in 1990 and 1991, and was named a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. In addition, Elder Tyler also has training in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling. He is currently seeking a Doctoral Degree in Christian Ministry as a student in the Masters - Doctoral Program of the Midwest Apostolic Bible College.
Elder Johnny R. C. Tyler is a product of a proud southern heritage of the Hasson and Taylor families. his father’s roots (John Taylor) are that of
Arkansas, while his mother’s family (Grace Louise Hasson) is from Alabama. he was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in the Englewood Community on the city’s South-side, although he spent his summers in
Arkansas and Missouri where his paternal grandmother had relocated to. Elder Tyler’s association with the Victory Apostolic Faith Church dates back for a period of more than 37 years. As a boy Elder
Tyler attended the recently established (1961) Victory Apostolic Faith Church 6317 South Carpenter Street, with his brother and sisters. He was baptized in the Name of Jesus in the Summer of June 1964.
after a while Elder Tyler left the church but returned as a young man and was filled with the Gift of the Holy Ghost on a Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 24th, 1983.
Besides being an Assistant Pastor, Motivational Speaker and Abstinence Educator as which he has spoken to thousands of teens and adults, Mr. Tyler is also the
host of “The Family Forum,” a “live” call-in cable television program in Chicago.
He has appeared on numerous radio programs including WYLL 106.7 fm., WVON 1390am WYCA 92.3 fm., MOODY WMBI 90.1 fm., and has written various articles in regards to issues facing today’s family including, abortion, AIDS,the social responsibility of the church, and the social culture of today’s youth, and he has published and produced several educational materials such as pamphlets, flyers, and newsletters aimed at facing the challenges of today’s society.
